Class of 1952. Vernon Lynn Swenson. Lynn married Jaqueline Noel Brandley, BYH Class of 1953. He was a physician in Townsend, Montana, but retired from the practice of medicine. He then focused on ranching. He wore a white beard (see reunion photo). ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: Vernon Lynn "Lynn" Swenson passed away peacefully on June 22, 2015. He was born April 23, 1934 in Soda Springs, Idaho, the youngest of six children born to Naomi Chappell James and John Lewis Swenson. Lynn was raised in Provo, Utah, attending Brigham Young High School, where he met the love of his life, Jaqueline Noel Brandley. Lynn graduated in the BYH Class of 1952, and Jaque graduated in the BYH Class of 1953. Lynn served in the US Army for two years during the Korean War. After returning to BYU, Jaque and Lynn were sealed in the SLC Temple for time and all eternity on June 3, 1957. Lynn attended medical school at George Washington University in Washington D.C. graduating third in his class of 100. After a residency in Phoenix, Arizona, they settled in Townsend, Montana. They grew to love the people and the beautiful scenery of the area. After a few years, they bought a farm outside of town where Lynn relieved stress by irrigating and fixing things. He practiced medicine in Townsend until he retired. Lynn is survived by Jaque, his wife of 58 years, and his five children that he “rented for vacations” and ended up keeping forever: Susan Neuffer, Krista Gotberg (Byron), Eric (Sharolyn), Dana Stott (Alan), and Alisa Cassity. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews as well as his sister Ruth Johnson. Lynn was preceded in death by his parents and four of his siblings, Helen Swenson Eastmond, John Swenson, Beth Swenson Walker (BYH Class of 1939), and Dr. Gene James Swenson (BYH Class of 1945). There will be a memorial service on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Oak Forest Chapel, 2250 North 2200 East in Layton, Utah. A memorial service will also be held in the Townsend, Montana, LDS Chapel on Saturday, July 11, 2015. Arrangements under the direction of Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Broadwater Health Center in Townsend, Montana, or Doctors Without Borders would be appreciated. Source

Mother: Johanne Maire Pedersen, born September 13, 1833 in Sevenolstrup, Viborg, Denmark, died on May 7, 1880 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. They married on June 24, 1860 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. They had eight children: ~ ~ 1. Annie Swensen, born April 8, 1861 in Pleasant Grove, died February 21, 1920 in Pleasant Grove. ~ ~ 2. His parents were John Canute Swensen and Margaret Ellen Davis (Davies) Swensen. He married Ruth Freebairn on August 16, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He died on April 2, 1989 in Ogden, Utah. Interment, Ogden, Utah. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ His parents are John C. Swensen (Swenson), born February 4, 1869 [BYA High School 1888, BYA Collegiate 1900], married Margaret Davies (Davis) Swensen. John originally used the -SON spelling, but later in life he decided it would be better to use the -SEN spelling. John and Margaret had ten children; five of the children continued with the -SON spelling, but the other five changed and used the -SEN spelling. They had seven sons and three daughters as follows: ~ ~ 1. John Starr Swenson [BYH Class of 1917?], born March 27, 1900, died December 28, 1977. He married Marva Carter. ~ ~ 2. Carl Davis Swenson [BYH Class of 1919?], born August 3, 1901, died April 29, 1979. He married Lura Tanner. ~ ~ 3. Reed Knute Swenson [BYH Class of 1921], born February 16, 1903, died April 2, 1989. He married Ruth Freebairn. ~ ~ 4. Alice Swenson, born May 10, 1905, died in infancy. 5. Margaret Swensen [BYH Class of 1923], born May 29, 1906, died January 30, 1987. She married James L. Letterman Vice President 3. ~ ~ ~ ~ Bob Swenson is a Korean War Veteran. ~ ~ ~ ~ Dr. Robert T. Swenson. He was born on December 12, 1929 in Provo, Utah. His parents are Carl Davis Swenson and Lura Tanner Swenson. He married Maxine Larsen. Dr. Robert Swenson died on April 28, 1990 in Salt Lake City, Utah. ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: Dr. Robert Tanner Swenson, 60, died April 28, 1990 at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City from complications following surgery. Born December 12, 1929 in Provo, Utah son of Carl Davis Swenson and Lura Tanner Swenson. Bob married Maxine Larsen July 2, 1956 in the Logan LDS Temple. He attended Provo schools, graduating from B.Y. High in 1948, then graduating from BYU, and the U of U Medical School in 1957; one year internship at the University of Minnesota; followed by a year internal medicine residency; a two-year fellowship in hematology research; and a three-year residency in radiology, all completed at the U of U Hospital. Member AMA and the American Board of Radiology. He practiced in Utah and California, and for the past 11 years in Northern Montana. He served in the Medical Corp during the Korean Conflict. He is a member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings including Explorer leader and President of the Cutbank, Montana Branch; serving as High Priest Group teacher at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Maxine, of Cutbank, Montana; son and three daughters, Sally Ann Swenson, Laguna Niguel, California; Capt. John Robert Swenson, Cheyenne, Wyoming; Mrs. Dennis Robert (Joanne Lura) McCombs, Chewelah, Washington; Mrs. Steven Todd (Carolyn Maxine) Riggs, Placentia, California; five grandchildren; sister, Claire Swenson Johnson, Provo; and brother, John Swenson, Springville. Those who knew him were touched by his caring attitude, love, compassion, generosity, devotion to family, and love for his Father in Heaven. Words cannot express how much he is loved and how much we will miss him. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 1st, 11 a.m., Berg Chapel, 185 East Center, Provo. Interment, Provo City Cemetery. Born June 4, 1900 in Beaver, Utah to Edwin Swindlehurst and Mary Jane Cartwright. Married Morrell J. Warr, September 17, 1925 in the St. George LDS Temple. He preceded her in death, April 25, 1987. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she held many positions. She served an LDS mission to the Central States. Was president of the stake Relief Society and stake YWMIA. She served as a teacher and organist for many of the organizations. She was a member and officer of the DUP and American Legion Auxiliary. She attended school in Beaver and graduated from the Murdock Academy. She taught school in Beaver and Star Valley, Wyoming. She is survived by two sons, Dr. Newell E. Warr, Salt Lake City; Joseph B. Warr, Casper, Wyoming; one daughter, Mary Mecham, Salt Lake City; 14 grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 26, 1991 in the Beaver LDS 1st Ward Chapel. Class of 1978. Scott Syme. ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: Scott Williams Syme, age 58, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at home surrounded by loved ones after a valiant fight with cancer. He was born on June 28, 1960 in Provo, Utah, the second oldest of six children to John and Joan Syme. Scott grew up in Provo, attended BY Elementary, and graduated from Provo High. It was in Provo that he developed a passion for printing. He spent 20 years working in the print industry, and found a love for managing and working alongside the people there. Scott took his skills, hard work, and abilities to many different industries; ending with his current role as Compliance Manager at Temkin International. He married the love of his life, Keri Wolsey, on July 11, 1981 in the Salt Lake Temple and they were married for 37 wonderful years. Scott loved doing anything outside; he spent countless hours in the mountains, gardening, and striving for landscaping perfection in his yard. Those who knew Scott know of the dedication he had when it came to service. One of his favorite things to do was finding individuals that he could help. He is survived by his wife Keri, and his two daughters Amy (Joshua) Titus and Emily Syme. His parents John and Joan Syme, his three brothers Les (Gaylene) Syme, John Dale (Kimberly) Syme, Alan (Michelle) Syme, and his two sisters Laurie (Creig) Rowley and Jennie (Lance) Smith. A viewing will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Payson South Stake building, 711 S. 600 E., Payson, Utah. Funeral services will be held on January 8, 2019 with an additional viewing held one-hour prior from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Payson South Stake building 711 S. 600 E.
