"Our first great granddaughter just arrived. We now have one great grandson and the new great granddaughter." @2005 ~ ~ ~ ~ DEATH NOTICE: James Darrell Christensen passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2007. He had been in poor health recently due to diabetes. Dialysis was in his routine for 7 years. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, 5 children, 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He loved his years in Provo. He was 76 years old. @May 2007. ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: James Darrell Christensen died on May 16, 2007 in Mesa, Arizona. He was born July 27, 1930 in Richfield, Utah, to Archie Bert & Sarah Curtis Christensen. Jim was the youngest of six children in his family. Along with his parents, he had three brothers and two sisters: M. Grant Christensen, Glenn A. Christensen, Thera Christensen, Iva Christensen, and John B. Christensen. Jim worked as an insurance agent and an accountant. He received a degree in Accounting from Arizona State. He loved his family, sports, competing, coaching, and mentoring youth. Jim was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a variety of callings, including a two-year mission for the church in the Northern States Mission. He was also a Veteran of the Korean War. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Helen Macdonald Christensen, and children: Kathy Christensen (Jim) Allen, Becky Christensen (Keith) Russell, Curtis (Jessica) Christensen, Jenny Christensen, and Lars (Kami) Christensen; 15 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers: Grant (Aenone) Christensen, and John (Gail) Christensen; his sister-in-law Melba (Glenn) Christensen; cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services were held on Monday, May 21, 2007 at the Udall Ward Building (525 E. 2nd Ave.). Interment, Mesa City Cemetery. The family suggested contributions to General Missionary Fund, c/o Bishop Kay Lines, 435 E. 1st Ave., Mesa, Arizona 85204. Mary Jo Christensen Stephenson. Our angel mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and eternal companion passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2002, in Orem, Utah after a lengthy battle with numerous health problems. Even until the end, her cheery smile and positive attitude were an inspiration to those around her. Mary was born on August 10, 1929 in Wendell, Idaho as the sixth of eight children to Charley and Elva Christensen. She grew up in Wendell and at age 17 fell in love with and married her sweetheart, Garth A. Stephenson, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mary was active in numerous church callings throughout the years, including Primary, Young Women, Relief Society, seminary and gospel doctrine teacher, and served with her husband, Garth, as a senior missionary in Vancouver, Canada and later in Singapore and Malaysia. They also served an International Humanitarian Services mission in Salt Lake City. She loved to sing and harmonized with her daughters in performing at a number of church and community events. She and her husband recently moved to Utah after living in the Washington D.C. area for over 50 years. Her family was her greatest joy. She was Garth's sunshine. Together, Mary and Garth raised ten remarkable children: Douglas (Sharon) Stephenson, Mt. Airy, MD; Richard (Cindy) Stephenson, Orem, UT; Christine (James) Fox, West Valley, UT; Diane (Michael) Tenney, Orem, UT; Dona Hartman (deceased), Andy (Carol) Stephenson, Bel Air, MD; Scott (Vickie) Stephenson, Bel Air, MD; Mary Kay (Dan) Bishop, Orem, UT; Tom (Jill) Stephenson, Spokane, WA and Kerry (Jean) Stephenson, Mount Laurel, NJ. In addition to her husband, she leaves one brother, Dee (Pati) Christensen, Rupert, ID and two sisters, Verla (Murlen) Lancaster, Wendell, ID and Arlene (Wayne) Skeem, Twin Falls, ID, 54 grandchildren and 67 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved and knew by name. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 22, 2002, at 1:00 p.m. in the Northridge Steeplechase Chapel, 150 East 1750 North, Orem, Utah. Family and friends are invited to a viewing held Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, and at the Church on Saturday morning from 11:45 to 12:45 p.m. prior to service. Graveside services will be Monday, June 24, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. in the Wendell Cemetery, Wendell, Idaho. Our loving mother, Beverly Dawn Wentz Herrmann, passed away January 2, 2009 at her home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born July 14, 1929 in Jerome, Arizona to Donald E. and Sidonia Jensen Wentz. Married Donald F. Herrmann in Moose, Wyoming in 1951. Survived by five children: Leslie, Russell, Chris, John, Merrily; nine grandchildren; two great-grand-children; four brothers.
