BYU BA 1959. ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: Warren K Clark "Kay" peacefully returned to his heavenly home February 10, 2020. He was born July 10, 1933 to James Lynn and Effie Melissa Clark the youngest of three boys and three girls. He attended Timpanogas Elementary and Dixon Junior High School. Kay graduated from Brigham Young High School in the Class of 1951, where he excelled in music, art, and sports. He served in the US Air Force as a Radio Operator. After serving in the military he served an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northern States Mission. Upon returning home from his mission he married his eternal companion, Joyce Williamson. They were married for 61 years and together raised four children. They were also heavily involved in the Indian Placement Program for 27 years along with many others that Kay and Joyce welcomed into their home that called him Dad and Grandpa. He worked for the Utah Department of Transportation as an Office Engineer and helped build many freeways and highways across the state of Utah. He served faithfully in many callings in the Church including on Stake High Councils and in Bishoprics. His favorite calling however, was that of Primary Teacher. He is survived by his wife Joyce, children Kalyne (John) Nicholes, Don, Greg (Kayla), JoDee (Ryan) Stott. 18 plus grandchildren, 11 plus great grandchildren, sister Lois Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, one granddaughter and one great granddaughter. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 15th at the Sharon 2nd Ward Chapel, 600 South 400 East, Orem at 11 a.m. Viewings will be held Friday February 14 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and prior to the funeral from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Both at the Sharon 2nd Ward Chapel. Married Mary Alice Sauls, BYH Class of 1952. ~ ~ ~ ~ Stanley E. Collins, who was an officer and director at various times for Sundance. They acquired a lot in December of 1981, and constructed a personal residence on the lot. On January 27, 1997, an avalanche destroyed the Collinses' home. Collins, passed away peacefully at his home in Provo on the morning of October 24, 2008. Stan was born in Provo, Utah on January 18, 1934, to AC (Bill) Collins and Mildred Elliott Collins. He grew up in Provo and attended Brigham Young elementary training school, BY Junior High, BY High School and graduated from Brigham Young University in 1958. In High School he was a good student and an exceptional athlete. He participated in all sports, but his favorites were basketball and tennis. This interest carried on into college where he participated on both the basketball and tennis teams at BYU. His schooling was interrupted between his sophomore and junior years when he served an LDS mission to the North Central States. He graduated from BYU in 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business, then entered New York University where he graduated with an MBA degree. It was here that he worked on Wall Street and became interested in finance and investments. On returning to Provo, he became involved in various business ventures. He served as a first Vice President and Regional Manager for the brokerage firm Foster and Marshall, which merged to eventually become Smith Barney where he served as Vice President until his death. He was also a founder and director of Bonneville Bank and served as Executive Vice President of Sundance Incorporated in association with his long-time friend Robert Redford. Over the years he has been an unselfish and tireless worker in worthy community causes and civic organizations and has been a dedicated booster of BYU. The civic positions he has held include Past Chairman of the Provo Chamber of Commerce, recipient of the chamber of commerce Outstanding Young Man award, past chairman of the National Cougar Club, and Chairman of the BYU Hall of Fame Selection Committee. He was also a member of the Committee to save the lower campus education building which became the Provo City Library. He was appointed by the Mayor to chair the Provo City Development Committee. He also served on the Riverside Country Club Board of directors, and for the past ten years he has been a member of the National Advisory council at Dixie College in St. George. As a committed member of the LDS Church, he has served in many positions. He was a bishop in a BYU Student ward, a Branch President at the MTC, and a bishop in his home ward, the Oakhills 6th. He has also served faithfully as a gospel doctrine teacher and home teacher and in many callings with the youth. He married Mary Alice Sauls in the Salt Lake Temple in 1957. They are the parents of five children, the joys of his life "David, (Ruth), Mesa, Arizona; Robert, (Mitzi), Provo, Utah; John (Merilee), Orem, Utah; Andrew, (Nicole), Provo and Elizabeth, Salt Lake City, Utah. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, two brothers: Ed Collins and Bob Collins and a sister, Kathy Gadd. His parents preceded him in death. When he was chosen to light the "Y" he was introduced as "a respected business executive, Church Leader and civic servant, and a charming and articulate man who is one of the fine gentlemen around." His was a life well lived as Stan was the greatest example of generosity, loyalty, and unconditional love. He knew how to laugh and had a magnificent sense of humor. He was a friend to all. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 28, at 11 a.m. at the Oakhills 6th Ward Chapel, 2000 North 1500 East, Provo. Class of 1951. James Douglas "Jim" Dunford. Basketball, Track, Chorus, Junior Class Social Chair. Married Jean Irene Nebeker. ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: James Douglas Dunford, 1933-2017. Our husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather completed his earthly mission on March 31, 2017 and returned to his Heavenly Father. James Douglas Dunford was born February 10, 1933 to Alma Teller and Thelma Tueller Dunford in Provo, Utah. Jim graduated from Brigham Young High School, Provo, Utah, in the Class of 1951. He married his eternal sweetheart, Jean Irene Nebeker on July 13, 1951. They were later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple on June 28, 1957. He is survived by his sweetheart Jean and children: Leslee Dunford Miller, Springville, Utah; Randall Dunford (Vicki), Lehi, Utah; James Dunford (Randy Kae) Lehi, Utah; and daughter-in-law Cindy Dunford, Orem, Utah. His son, Ronald Dunford, passed in 2016. He is survived by twelve wonderful Grandchildren and twenty Great-Grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Helen Dunford Jeppson, and one brother, Chaunce Dunford. Jim retired from Pacific Gas and Electric Company in California after working there for 42 years. He worked in the Electric Substation Department. He worked on the starting up and installing of the Geysers Power Plants, in Lake County, California, which started the first geothermal electric generating station run by a utility in the United States. Jim loved his family thoroughly and enjoyed being a Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather. He raised his family in the San Francisco Bay Area. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many Church positions in his life time. In California he was a Bishop, a Counselor in two different Stake Presidencies, High Councilor, Stake Missionary, Ward Clerk and other Church positions. In Utah he served as Stake Clerk, Stake Executive Secretary, a Branch President at the MTC, and Service Missionary at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City. After retiring, he worked for the Uinta National Forest for 11 years in their Senior Workers Program. He was also a volunteer at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo. He loved Utah and was so happy when they moved back to Orem in 1986. The family wishes to thank the staff at Valeo Home Health, especially Toni, Kristina, Lisa, and Holly for their loving care for Jim. Also, the family wishes to thank all the staff at Bel Aire Assisted Living in Orem for the wonderful care and concern for Jim during his final months. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Orchard Stake Center Chapel, 810 E 600 N Orem, Utah. John Frederick Fechser [Sr.] was born on May 17, 1933 in Las Vegas, Nevada. His parents were Charles Derondo Fechser and Magdalene Jolley Fechser. John [Sr.] died on September 7, 1996 in Provo, Utah. ~ ~ ~ ~ 1923 Provo Daily Herald: A 13-year-old boy, worried about his mother injured in the Strawberry Days grandstand collapse, decides not to bother her with news of his own mishap. John Fechser fell into the Provo River after picking cherries in Grandview. A day later, his father noticed the boy favoring one arm and took him to a doctor, who discovered the elbow dislocated and arm broken. ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: John Frederick Fechser passed away Saturday, September 7, 1996, at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center of congestive heart failure. He was born May 17, 1933, in Las Vegas, Nevada, the son of Charles Doronda Fechser and Magdeline Jolley Fechser. John grew up in a wonderful, loving, caring family, extended family and all. He felt it was a special blessing to live with and care for his brother, Charlie. John loved to fly and had his pilot's license by age 16. He was an excellent pilot and trusted by all who flew with him, including Presidential candidates and Cleon Skousen of the Freeman Institute. He loved photography and did his own developing, including color print work. He loved the beautiful underwater world of scuba diving and enjoyed many waters from California to Jamaica, Mexico and Canada. John had a great love for music, raising his children to that love also. He was a charter member of the SPEBSQSA (Barbershop). He was also a member of the Footprinters Club, BPOE and the FOF. John was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He became sidetracked for a number of years, but had the great blessing to come back into the fold and receive all of his priesthood blessings again. He recently enjoyed being with his family at the temple. He was a salesman by trade and began at the age of 16 selling chickens for his uncle Orlando and Aunt Christine Jolley of Jolley's Poultry. He helped pioneer the truck route between Provo and Moab, Utah. He enjoyed prospecting for gold with his friends Ralph Bonham, Lou Woolsey and Carr Krueger. John truly loved people and was known and loved by many. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Jeannie, whom he wanted it to be known was his angel; his children, Becky Fechser Everett, Debbie Fechser Hamilton, Margo Fechser O'Very, John Fechser II, Christine Fechser Nelson, Orlando (Ole) Fechser, Ben Fechser, Merica Nelson Hale and Meredith Nelson; his sisters, Leslie Fechser Tall, Lynn Fechser Anderson; one brother, Charlie Fechser; 27 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by brother, Key Jolley Fechser, and grandson, Samual Rawlins Fechser. Haws died on February 17, 2000, in Exeter, Tulare County, California. Interment, Exeter, California. ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: EXETER, California. Ben Frank Haws, Ph.D, passed away at his home in California on Thursday, February 17, 2000, at the age of 67, after a lengthy struggle with lung disease. He was born in Escalante, Utah on December 25, 1932 (Christmas Day) to Claud Emmorn and Nan Nelson Haws. Ben graduated from Brigham Young High School in the Class of 1951. He then graduated from Brigham Young University in 1960. He served an LDS mission to the Central States in 1953-55. He served in the U.S. Navy 1955-57. He also enrolled at the University of Utah where he received his masters degree in social work in 1962. He worked in that capacity at the Utah State Hospital in Provo, Utah, and later in the Maricopa County Mental Health Department in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Ben Haws later returned to BYU and graduated in 1972 with his PhD in clinical psychology before moving with his family to Visalia, California where he was employed by the Kings View Corporation, and later with Tulare County until he retired in 1994. He is survived by his beloved wife Jackie Haws whom he married in the Ogden LDS temple; a daughter Chemene Haws, Laramie, Wyoming; sons, Frank McKinley Haws and Kent Minor (Frances) Haws, Exeter, California; stepchildren, Candi (Paul) Houghton, Visalia, California; Stephanie (Matthew) Morello, Exeter, California; six grandchildren; and one brother, J.C. (Eva) Haws, Brigham City, Utah. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, in Exeter, California. [Garfield County News, February 24, 2000]

Class of 1951. Doris Hunter. Fauvines President, Chorus. ~ ~ ~ ~ HER OBITUARY: Doris Hunter Jex passed away peacefully at her home in Laketown, Utah on Friday, December 7, 2018. Doris was born to John Urie Hunter and Hortense Keel Hunter on May 12, 1933 in Provo, Utah. Doris Hunter attended grade school in Provo and graduated from BY High School. Doris married G. Charles Jex on February 5, 1951 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They celebrated 67 years together this year. Active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in different organizations as well as serving in the Logan Temple with her husband for six years as ordinance workers. Doris and Charles also were called to serve in the Lithuania Mission for 18 months. Her greatest joys were always her family. They were blessed with ten children to call theirs, Debra and Keith Steere, Fred and Denee Jex, Gail and Mark Eborn, Lisa and Kerry Nielsen, Jean Ann, deceased, Craig and Ruth Jex, Joylyn and Shelton Taylor, JaNell and Doug Spencer, Jeff and Rachel Jex, Jennifer and Don Mackey. Rounding out those numbers, she loved 43 grandchildren, 83 great grandchildren and great-great numbers changing daily. On this day a special reunion happened for Mom and JeanAnn as they were united again. Doris was a homemaker. She loved cooking, sewing, painting, quilting, flowers, gardening, but especially loved creating a home from an old home. She always was surrounded by special people that she called friends. She loved her many friends that came to visit, or find her through special notes. Funeral arrangements are by Allen-Hall Mortuary of Logan. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 1 pm in the Laketown Ward Chapel. A viewing will be from 10 am — 12:30 pm.
