Brigham Young High School Class of 1912

This class is fairly well documented in the 1912 BYH yearbook, called the Mizpah. The Department of each student is not given. Mizpah literally means "tower in the wilderness" but also carries a much deeper meaning. Pages 1 through 62 contain information about the BYH Class of 1912. Page 105 reprints a news story about the Class of 1912 donating $1,000 to build a new gate at the southwest corner of the Academy block. Only about 135 class members are listed in the Mizpah. Class of 1912 high school graduates have been confirmed, and some new ones documented, through the research of Scott Cowley in the early record books in the BYU Records Office. The combined list for this BYH class currently stands at 170, with question marks by two additional records: Genevieve Richardson and Wilford Smith. The Class of 1912 appears to be the largest graduating class in Brigham Young High School history. [July 2010]

University, Book 3, page 464. Marian Lofdahl Andelin was born on May 21, 1891 in Provo, Utah. Her parents were Olof Wilhelm Andelin (BYA, BYH, BYU faculty member) and Mary Elizabeth Turner. She married Clyde Free Hansen in Salt Lake City, Utah, on June 1, 1916 (div). She died on December 6, 1979 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. ~ ~ ~ ~ Several children of O. W. and Mary Andelin attended BYH, including Aubrey Olof Andelin (male), BYH Class of 1910; Marian Andelin (female), BYH Class of 1912; L'Etrenne Andelin (male), BYH Class of 1922 [born 1901]; [Thomas] Delece Andelin (male), also BYH Class of 1922 [born 1903].

Albert Franklin Anderson was born October 27, 1889 in St. Johns, Apache County, Arizona. His parents were Charles Pehr [or Peter] Anderson and Anna Louisa Anderson. He married Cora Sherwood on December 25 (Christmas Day), 1914 in St. Johns, Arizona. He died on May 22, 1979 in St. Johns, Arizona. His interment, St. Johns, Arizona.

His parents were Erastus Snow Andersen (sic) and Helena Matilda Overlade Andersen. He married Venice Clark, also BYH Class of 1912, on June 15, 1915 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Earl Overlade Anderson died on August 20, 1964 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, Salt Lake City, Utah.
